Today, with the release of Sky in Google Earth (codename GoogleSky), Google and the Space Telescope Science Institute have sealed this collaboration started in early 2006 with a vision of having space images served by Google technology.
I can honestly say that I have enjoyed each moment of this collaboration that had both great ups and great downs. I need to acknowledge Carol Christian for being my "partner in crime" for these past 2 years. Carol and I see eye-to-eye on many issues, have complementary skills and had a great time working with the Google-Pittsburgh team: Andrew Connolly, Ryan Scranton, Simon Hrughoff, Jeremey Brewer, Andrew Moore and all the people at Google!
Ckeck out the Sky in Google Earth Gallery where some example of really cool astronomical KMLs will be posted. And don't forget the Google Earth Community!!!
